Haiti Election: Natural Resources – Secret or silence of the candidates!! Gold – Iridium – Oil
[ vu 5,592 fois ]Version française ici: Élections en Haïti et Ressources naturelles: Secret ou silence des candidats sur l’or – iridium – pétrole
To remember, one year after the scandalous attitude of Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive on the natural resources of Haïti unmentionable in official plans for reconstruction, but coveted by the IMF, the World Bank, the IFC and the canadian and american companies.
A year after the famous Bellerive statements on natural resources concerning gold, oil and iridium in Haïti, two elements remains important to report.
First, discussions on these resources still seem to be made under cover. Second, it is very disturbing to see how the vigilance on these resources is not really promoted in official discourse of the presidential candidates who continue to promote a servile attitude facing the almighty International,
who, from behind, multiplies agreements for explotation/exploration in Haïti. But this docile attitude towords demands from the IMF and the World Bank in the hope of getting the money promised after the earthquake, is it really worth the billions that only deal in gold or oil can bring to the country ? Does’nt Bellerive speak himself of a billionaire haitian gold project already coveted by the IFC in this video:
Mario Joseph, lawyer for Human Rights, Bureau des Avocats Internationaux (BAI), visiting Montreal, for an event organized by the Comité de solidarité Montréal-Haïti, told us that silence on this issue reflects lack of credibility of these elections and the lack of serious of the candidates on a crucial issue that is ultimately financial independence of Haïti.
If Mirlande Manigat remains silent on this issue, Michel Martelly him, speaks in a rather intriguing way. First, he considers of bad faith leaders who have not so far included the exploitation of these resources in their reconstruction plan, without doing it himself; second, he is not shocked by the confession of Bellerive, because ultimately, he was already informed of the presence of these resources by his contacts, all in all, this is good news.

So why the silence in the political class? While Patrick Elie, former defense minister, believes that it is dangerous to speak of certain natural resources in Haiti, the lawyer Mario Joseph suggests that it is specifically the objective of foreign powers to impose silence, including phony elections to eventually bring a docile and unpopular government , while contracts for exploration and exploitation are constantly renewed. MINUSTAH would be itself involved in these activities. This is something that we have also heard from farmers in the southern region of Haïti, three months after the earthquake of January 12, 2010.
The fear, presumably, of those who impose this quietness is that the legitimacy of these contracts are called into question by looking at the credibility of governments that have signed those agreements and how those politicians came to sign those contracts. Latortue – Preval – Bellerive (former Minister of Planning and External Cooperation) – see Clinton.
While part of the population is still unaware of the presence of these resources, as acknowledged Martelly, other people start fighting on the ground if we take into account this appeal by e-mail. (Original text, translated from french)
“You who you focus on the elections! Did you know that every day during the evening, in several localities in the Grand Anse, a group of foreign nationals gather in large amounts of land in these areas for boarding ships. Our representatives in the area have observed this for more than a month. After a laboratory study of Japanese foreign analysts came to Haiti at the expense of the party PACOH they have unveiled that these lands that are transported contain iridium and it is used for satellites etc. …
You see how thieves steal you, plunder your resources while you are caring for elections already CANCELLED. From March 1, we, the inhabitants of the area wiill there to stop their plan .That land will cease to board. Nobody has seen: You satisfied with “upside down” elections and carnival while the most intelligent looted resources in your basement. “
From: THIERRY THEODORE
Thierry Theodore PACOH, also believes that elections in this context, is a masquerade. Politicians must now have a clear discourse regarding natural resources and their foreign policies in order to be taken seriously by voters and if they hope to have a represantative election result.
